I was at one time going to try and replicate LP's "Spike" triggers. Basically they are some plastic tubes about 2" diameter and made into "T" shape with a trigger installed. I had DDRUM triggers on all of my toms, snare and BD and an Alesis D4, and I thought those spike things would be a neat addition. Somewhere along the way I got bored with the whole electronic thing and sold most of the crap that I had, and I never built the spike thingy. Maybe somebody here would wanna give it a shot.

I would think that creating a DIY "spike" trigger would be fairly simple (relatively speaking). I would guess that some of the the easy-to-get "ingredients" would include:
- PVC pipe from Home Depot/Lowes
- A section of sheet/tube rubber
- Piezzo sensor (Radio Shack)
Of course, you would need a sound module.
