So, I was out & about today going to my favorite drum shops. Along the way there a couple of Guitar Center's. I tend to pop into them to see if anything decent is on sale or rummage through the discount table. I have found some great stuff by doing this for a super good price.
So, I see a bunch of Paiste cymbals out on display. Some are even Colorsound's and Sound Formula's and some other stuff. OK, now I'm paying attention. Seems as though they got a bunch of stuff from Paiste that are prototypes, discontinued models in a current series and discontinued lines like the SF's. So, they are also offering some great deals. Buy a cymbal at half off list and get another free.
So, what do I see but a brand new set of 14" Sound Formula Med. Heavy hi hats. I see Paiste has been hiding NOS SF's down there in Brea...bastards! I also see a set of 15" 2002 black label hats. I inquire on the pricing. Now here is where it gets real interesting.
The price for one 14" hi-hat cymbal (top or bottom) is $118. OK, so I buy that and get the other hi hat cymbal for free I ask. "Yes"! "Your ****ting me..." is my response. "No"! So, I get the pair of hats for $118...brand new, never been played, discontinued, round circle Sound Formula hats...sold! So, I gotta know about the 2002's. Basically, same deal. Buy one for $128 and get the other one for free...$128 for a pair of new 2002 hats...uh OK, sold! This is a serious score. They had other deals on some other nice stuff including more Sound Formula's (rides, chinas). If they had had crashes (they didn't)...I had to leave or it would have gotten ugly. I think I drooled on myself!
I just love a good deal. I'm pretty stoked! Oh...of course both sets of hats sound great. They're Paiste's!!!
