I have never seen a cymbal that badly cracked before!

Safe to say you were due for a new cymbal.

asddrummer
11-25-2004, 01:47 PM
yea it cracked about two weeks before i ordered my saludas then i had to wait about a month to get it and having band practice 3 times a week will just destroy a cracked cymbal and it went into the stuidio for some hardcore band to record with

11-25-2004, 02:37 PM

So tell us.

Why did you go with Saluda?

How do you like them?

Inquiring Ghostnoters want to know...............

asddrummer
11-25-2004, 03:27 PM
yes someone actually recorded with that i dont even know why you coulda used a skillit and it would have sounded better

well smoke i went with saluda for a couple reasons the Big 3 are pretty damn expensive and when your 15 and making minimum wage and need 2 new cymbals quickly saluda sounded good with the trade in program and their prices were too low to pass up. I had only heard great things about them i only read one bad reveiw and it was because the guy was stupid and bought crash/ride and expected it to be like a crash. i traded in a ride and a hi hat top for the new crash and ride and it was something like 160 bucks for both with shipping so i mean i coulda droped that on a zildjian crash alone so saluda just seemed like the best choice.

I love my new cymbals the ride is perfect the crash is a little thick for my liking but i guess ill get used to it but overall they were great jamie was real cool with answering my 9000000 questions and he replied fast

so anybody looknig for new cymbals give saluda a check

So, how does it sound, Gmoney? Don't give me no ping ping crash stuff! Is it full bodied with a clean bell sound, does it have a nice wash with solid stick definition, is it warm and radiant with a full body. Out with it young man!!!

11-25-2004, 08:29 PM

Another satisfied Saluda customer.

Cymbals are individual instruments. Once you become familiar with the voice and response of each....that's when you'll really be playing this pies.

ahhh you bastard you just got me so hyped up! [waiting for new ride from Saluda]

now i must get off this machine and play the drums.

asddrummer
11-27-2004, 09:57 PM
hahaha yea the rides great sounding i dunno if i need to change my felts or what but my ride will NOT lay flat and when you spin it the part that says 20" medium ride is always lower than the rest of the cymbal so its angled torwards be when the medium is close to me but if its on the other side the cymbal is like angled away from me kinda weird

DFender
11-27-2004, 09:59 PM
Buying felts is always a good thing!

They wear out faster than cymbals.

How long have you had your current felts?

asddrummer
11-27-2004, 10:02 PM
ugh i have never changed my felts and i bought the stand is like 6 years old back when my bro had it and i doubt theyve been changed i guess ill go pick some up then. but it never did that with my old cymbals. Could this be because the saludas are heavier?

Hey, pls138 (yes, I caught the "we are 138" reference...The Misfits ruled!) you might consider moving that cool little heavy bell thingy up onto a crash or something. You would have trouble playing the ride bell with it stickin' up there...

DFender
11-29-2004, 11:16 PM
actually, The bell is perfect there! Very easy to get to and it cuts through awesome!

I like to have my china splash on the top of my secondary hats!

I might try spreading out a few bells around the set as well...

Crazy8s
11-29-2004, 11:46 PM
True, but it blocks the ride's bell. I guess if ya don't use the ride bell it would be OK. I personally play the heck out of the ride bell. Crash cymbal bells can be played too, but they arent as pronounced so I put my little effect cymbals on them all the time.

Drums - just a prefrence thing! I like it both ways!!!

Crazy8s
11-29-2004, 11:57 PM
That is absolutely true. here is something you might try, because you have the hardware to do so. try suspending some effects underneath your crash cymbals that you mount on the top rung on your rack. That might be pretty neat!

Smoke,

Did you get your china ride yet? I didn't see it in the pic. We sent you something a little special. It would be our largest cymbal revealed.

I saw Dave's 27" and just had to get one. Yes, I am a cymbalholic

Having just recieved a whole set a Saluda Cymbals (pics to follow) Jamie sent along the "extra inch."

It is a thin pie. You can ride, crash, and get a gong sound with mallets with this monster.

Ride the bow close to the "bell" and you'll get a good stick articulation on top of a dark, "mysterious" wash. The closer to the flange you play the trashier & washier is gets.

It'll open up when shanked.....give it a really good whack and you'll get the guitar players attention....well maybe. **Guitar players, gotta love 'em  **

Flip it over and use it as a china crash and you'll get a really BIG china crash.....LOUD too. Moon Gels can shorten the note if needed.

Played on either side mallets will give a nice gong sound.

Will this pie get played on a lot of gigs? We'll see.......having been corrupted in my youth by King Crimson and Mahavisnu Orchestra I had to get one of these.

Now, if I could just find a case.................

Figured someone would get my s/n :D

I know what you mean, I used to hit my crash when I played my bell, but now I moved the crash over a bit so the problem is fixed. I like the brighter more pronouced sound of my bell cymbal oer the bell of the ride, so that's why I have it set up the way I do.
