Well I finally got the chance to play my new Saluda 20" Mist Rock Ride in brilliant finish today. I got it 3 days ago right as I went out the door to visit the rock n roll hall of fame, anyway....

I like the cymbal. Although I was skeptical at first (I didn't know what cymbal I would be getting, and I typically don't like "rock" rides), the sound is what matters, and it sounds good.

I told Jamie that I needed enough ping to cut through but not too much ping, he did that for me. It has a nice bright attack. I also told him that I needed wash to it for my jazz. Its got it. The over/undertones are very complex. They are dark, low pitched, which when mixed with the bright attack create this very complex but very musical sound. Lastly I told him that I like rides that I can crash, he told me they were semi crashable... I got to play this ride 45 minutes ago at ten oclock (pm) so I didn't crash it in fear of getting the neighbors pissed off. BUT I can saay that when I started to hit it harder the wash didn't completely tak over and it sounded very nice. The bell is also nice, bright and pingy, but doesn't ring too long.

Hopefully sunday I will set up all my recording equiptment and get some sound files up for you guys to hear.

In short the cymbal has a full complex tone, with a bright attack and dark wash. I will definitely be getting another cymbal from Saluda in the nearish future. I say check them out.

Kevin

Whats the 'B' endorsment is that just you have to pay full price but you can say your endorsed or something?

Endorsement means that the more people who see you play the product, and enjoy what they hear/see means the more likely a company is going to hook you up with free or cheaper gear. In some cases, they will even pay you money and give you free gear (think Neil Peart, Matt Sorum, Terry Bozzio and many other big dogs..). It all depends on how much advertisement you are going to be providing the company.

Only the TOP GUNS get the type endorsement that provides, free stuff and (maybe) cash. The company insuring gear is pre-prositioned for artist performance...as well as IMMEDIATE support when needed is most likely the biggest bennie of a top endorsement.

There is a really good run down on endorsements on the Saluda web site.

I won the Saluda raffle and liked the pie **I admitt I was a touch skeptical until I played it** Subsequently I submitted an endorsement packet to Saluda and we entered into an agreement.

I'm not being a jerk, but it is very tacky to ask "what deal" did you get? It's even worse if I was to answer.

Bottom line: I'd play Saludas even if I didn't endorse them. You can describe the type sounds you need to Saluda and they will pick the right cymbal, lathing/hammering it as needed to insure it makes those sounds is a very nice service that is available right now to all customers.

The whole "How good they sound" as well as the "I have quality issues" are different subjects for another thread.
