Does anyone have any experience with them?
I've read a lot on other boards where people say they really like Wuhan's chinas. I've heard they're pretty thin. That's fine as I'm not a heavy hitter and just looking for some good effects cyms.
But I hadn't really run across anyone that's used their splashes? Has anyone used them? I'm super low in the cash dept and considering adding a 16" or an 18" china and an 8" or a 10" splash.
Hmmmm, wish I had the opportunity to design a new logo for them... :)

heres my two cents thw wuhan china 12" had a GREAT sound but its volume wasnt all that loud and when you have your ear protection on on you hit it and your like WTF so you end up hitting it harder and i completly shattered mine because of this id say pick up like a 16 or an 18"wuhan china because they sound great and the with a bigger size youd get more volume as for splashes i have heard them and they wern't very good sounding youd be much better go with a saluda spash i have never heard them but their not too expensive so go for it i have heard great things about the saluda chinas too so you might wanna go for a 2 for 1 deal and get both saludas like i said before just my 2 cents

I have the 12" china and I think it is dang loud. Then again, I don't play loud so a china really shows up in my style. Maybe it isn't so much loud as it gets warm fast! I don't know if that is typical of a china, but this one gets loud fast with a very quick decay.
For $10, I'm very pleased.
ive seen em around the local store, sound pretty good and they are pretty thin,if i could i would buy one...but i already owe money to people for drum stuff already...

I have an older 21" Wuhan china (early 80"s) and that thing roars. I think getting one that sounds good is hit & miss. I had a 16" and even though I got it cheap I really didn't like it & got rid of it. Haven't tried a splash. At least they are afordable.

I've got a 18" and a 12" china and a 12" splash. I love the sound of all of them, the 12" splash is very dark and washy.
Musicians Friend has the 12" splash/china pack for a reasonable price. I would say you can't go wrong price wise.
GO FOR IT!! I'm sure you can't go wrong with Saluda either but I haven't had the pleasure yet.

Well, since my budget is super tight, I think I'm going to give them a test.
I think I'm going to buy a 12" china along with a couple of the new splashes they're making. Check these out (zoom in on the larger pic): http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=perc/s=cymbals/search/detail/base_pid/445869/ .
Looks like their older splashes were just lathed, and these are hand hammered. Guess I'll find out soon enough if they're any good since I'll probably order tonight or tomorrow. I'll have to post how they turn out.

If you aren't a heavy hitter you MIGHT be OK, but I tried both a 14" and an 18" about a year ago and promptly destroyed them both. I'm no ham-handed basher, but a cymbal should be able to stand up to rock playing--particularly a china.
Guitar center took both back for store credit and said that it's somewhat common.
By all means try em, you may be OK. They certainly sounded terrific.

For what it's worth, I have used a lot of Wuhan chinas, and I love the way they sound. They are dirt cheap and sound great! These are the types of cymbals that give us the title "chinese" as they are authenitic chinese style cymabls, made in where else, but China! The fact that they are cheap is very useful, because sadly, they break very easily. I have destroyed a ton of them, but I don't mind buying more because they sound so good.

I'm pretty easy on my gear. Don't get me wrong, I play it, but I don't crank on it like I used to back in my high school days. An interesting thing that I found. I went to the MF website and was reading the reviews on their chinas. I found that the majority were good or said they were at least a good value for the price. But it seemed that the majority if not all of the bad reviews, were from drummers that had listed their music style as metal / hardcore / punk. That tells me exactly what you guys are saying. They're thin and sound good for the price, but won't stand up to a louisville slugger. I figure, $10 for a china just to test and see if I can work it in to my playing style will be worth it.
I'm also sort of excited to see how those new splashes turn out.

Well I'll come out in defense of Wuhan and say that I haven't had any problem with breakage. I have an 18" that's been with me for about 3 or 4 years so far (can't remember exactly when I got it). I play as a motherf*cker and this thing shows no signs of wear yet. Tryple I think you will be fine with one. Mine sounds pretty good; Schlage summed it up pretty well: fast attack, quick decay. And it's very cutting (as I would expect of a china); I wouldn't mind finding a mellower one with longer decay at some point.

PS - Tryplecrown, I wish you could design them a new logo too ;)

Yeah, me too. Would be a fun project. Heck, it would look cool if they just did their name in chineese lettering...
Oh and as far as those new splashes being hand hammered. I don't know that they are, but the hammering looks the same as it does on their chinas. It's that wavy hammering. I'll try to take some pics when mine come in later this week. I'll probably order a couple Sunday evening.
