These are the three I've heard and I'm wondering what the proper way to say it is.

I have met with Paiste reps and they call it Pie-stee. I would hope that reps from the company could pronounce it right, but who knows....
i used to say pay-stee all the time, then a guy corrected me and told me it was pie-stee.

It's #3...Pie-stee. #1, Pay-stee, are the little things girls put over their nipples (belly dancers & such).

Porsche...yes I have heard it pronounced that way.
Jaguar...soon to be put on mothballs from what I hear. Their pullout of F-1 is just the start. I think the Jaguar brand is about to be shut down. I'm not 100% sure about this but I have heard rumblings. Declining sales, etc.
Waco, who the hell is Steve Jacobs?

Paiste product rep, and all around nice guy. He's always at NAMM. I chatted with him a few times at the Paiste booth.

Porscha - it's a German word (obviously) and an 'e' at the end means the word ends with the 'a' ('ah' not 'ay' if you follow me) sound.
Jag-yew-ar...
Can't see it being allowed to be closed down by the way - it's an old name and we don't tend to like to see those sort of things just disappear. No doubt BMW will buy it!!

there ya go, andy got em both correct.....
I've not heard that about Jaguar shutting down. Pull out of F1 was no surprise. Sterward started it, but in no way had the funding. Then, it's been shuffled around for a long time. Ford has been hurting in the pocket book for a few years. F1 is a major expense, the most expensive motor sport. Face it, it is all marketing. At the F1 level, it takes about 20 years for that technology to filter into a car-for-sale.
and to think all those years I thought it was just (pay-st). No wonder I would get funny looks....

It's PIE-STEE.
I know this because I have an old Jeff Porcaro Modern Drummer insert record where he is "demonstrating the various sounds of the Paiste product."
He pronounced it PIE-STEE.
So, since Jeff Porcaro was a drumming GOD, his word is FINAL. :D

I remember as a kid in the 60's, I would see the Paiste ads in the Ludwig catalogs, as they sponsored Paiste in the early years, and under the name was a line of small type that said "(pronounced Pie-Stee)"...that was in the good old days when 602's were the shiznit.
As long as we are on a pronunciation kick, though, what is the official correct way to sat Neil Peart? Like Heart? Or like dirt? Or maybe pairt? Somebody throw me a bone here....
OH...and what the heck's a DUCKET anyway?

there's the breakdown on how you earn them... basically they're currency you can buy raffle tickets with them in some raffles, or you can give them to people you really like as donations. As you can see, the more experienced posters have more duckets, so they have more buying power when it comes to auctions/raffles
Look here for ways to use your duckets: http://69.36.7.211/viewforum.php?f=10

Jaguar is far from shutting down, they are just stopping the production of the cosworth engine, and as jaguar have no developements in F1 then they are left engineless, its not unheard of at all. Im not a jag fan anyway but yeh, the cosworth was just giving all race teams problems
