Tip on getting cymbals...it's a very good idea to try them 1st.

i like some of the Paragons & not some of the others. 13" hats, the ride, one of the chinas (don't remember which), the 10" splash, and the 20 & 18" crashs, mostly the 20".

I've messed with them a tiny tiny bit and the first thing I noticed is that they're pretty heavy.

as I said before in another post heavy and clanky, rides and hats do not impress. me really have to lay into the crashes to get them to open up.
although I respect Peart he's not my fav drummer niether is rush's work.
I dont play hard so these would not be my cymbal(s) of choice.
I like my rides and hats to sing not ping

I tried the china's and the crashes today. They are definately good for more firm hitters, though I don't kill my cymbals, I hit pretty solid.

I've really been impressed with them so far; though I have not heard the hi hats.

I will probably get the whole kit eventually to get a unified sound of cymbals and clear up the hodge podge I have now.

Hey I wasn't dissin' yer comments about'em man. To each his own. :)

Keep in mind too, that even though they're the same cymbals, each one will sound different. Make sure you play any cymbal you buy. ;)

Why get a cymbal just because Neil does? There's a lot of studio work that goes into the sound of his cymbals that you probably don't know about...

I wish all cymbals were blank and no one knew what everyone else played so that everyone could get ears and find cymbals they actually like.

I'm not sure what exactly the point of that post was but...

I wouldn't buy anything without playing it, and I wouldn't buy anything unless I liked the sound of it (regardless of who's name is on it).

I've played them and I like the sound of them; they suit my style and the way I hit drums pretty well.

Rj and i spent some time at the Sabian booth at NAMM. I really liked the Paragon Splashes and the 14 and 13 hats. I think that they are very nice, responsive cymbals- very bright!

I liked the hats and the splashes, but the ride was to heavy for my tastes. The crashes would be nice for heavy Rock.

I have a few Z customs now and like them a lot. I guess there are some similarities between it and the Paragons, hadn't really thought about it.

the hats I played were kinda .. Blah I didnt think they were bright and they werent dark. sounded like a cheap set of cambers I had years back

maybe I played a bad set...
another excuse to go to GC or Sam Ash!

contrary to my first reply in his thread...i played a few of them today (13 hats, ride, and 18 20 crashes) and i liked the sound of them, plus they suit my style and my budget (15 cymbals for 2660 AUS cant really go wrong)

so yeah i am buying the whole set...ill use the ones i like and keep the others for spares and extras. cant wait.
