In the next month I am going to be buying 3 new crashes. The 4 I play right now have been with me since 1988 and the 16's are starting to crack.

Here is what I am playing now:

13" New Beats
20" K Heavy Ride
10" A Splash
17" K China

2-16's,17" and an 18" A Medium thin crashes.

I am going to keep the 17 and replace the 18 and the 16's. I am looking for a fast, smooth cymbal that will take some abuse. I play pretty hard but I am not a cymbal wrecker....15 years of use I figure is darn good. I am looking for suggestions on what Zildjian models to look for...A custom-K custom???. As you see I have not been cymbal shopping in a while. Give me some ideas.

both my 16" and my 18" are A Customs. i love them. they have a pretty long sustain and have held up good. i would suggest these, or Z Customs are really good too!!

For that smoothnes you'r lookin for, I say check out the K Customs. If you get 15 years out of your cymbals, you shouldnt have any problems. IMO K-Customs are Zildjians most musical cymbals.

I have a 16" a custom fast crash, and although it didn't start out as my primary crash, i use it more and more every day. that is one awesome cymbal. i got it used from a friend for 80 bucks with a stand inclueded. killer deal!

Thanks for the replies guys. I need to play a few more too.

Waco- I played a 17" K Custom and liked it very well but was scared of breaking it. I might just gamble and get a pair and if the go south then I will know.

Last weekend I scored. After testing a dozen or so crashes I was won over by a 17" A Custom. A nice 18" K Dark crash came in second but I thought buying two at once might confuse me in selecting which cymbal to exchange it with.

Gach- Yes I did. I bought a totally different cymbal than I set out to get. I just opened my ears and mind-

I prefer the K customs myself I own a
16" dark crash
18" dark crash
22" K custom dark ride
14" k custom dark hats
they seem to fit in any genre I've had to play

I really love 2 different K's but my better judgement told me they were way too thin for my style.

I like to hit them like I stole them!
