Paiste rides

I wanted to expand on a thought that came from the fav cymbals thread. I like to play on the bell. As much as I love 2002's, I have always found the bells on the rides...lacking. Even the Power & Heavy's. I originally got a Rude ride because of this. I got lucky when Paiste expanded the 2002 line & I got one of the Power Bell rides that is now in the Dimensions line (which I just don't really like at all). I would say the best selection of rides is in the Sig line. And IMHO, they got the bells right! I have a 21" dry heavy and a 20" dark dry and both have great riding surfaces & bells. Both cymbals sound much different from each other too.

I agree. I play on the bell quite a bit. I had a 22" 2002 Power ride, which did have a pretty good bell on it, but I'm liking the Dry Heavy better all around. You're right, it's also great off the bell.

If you were lucky enough, a few months ago GC was selling the Sig prototypes. I picked up a sweet 24" ride that had an incredible bell sound and awesome wash, similar to K custom rides washing. And the best part is that I got it for $120.

Ditto. I got a Sig Prototype 20" ride that was just what i was looking for... sounds somewhere around a bright ride. Real difined high-pitched sound, but with a nice controllable wash. Hammering that looks between a bright and a dry... Maybe got a little dry crisp in it :)

I also got a proto Paiste ride about a year ago & a proto china that is wicked cool about 4,5 months ago. Both for a great price. I think that stores like GC get these in from time to time from Paiste & if one happens to walk into a store with them there, then wa la, score. I have also heard some real clankers too.

My ride is kind of like a medium ride that seems to be a cross of a Sig & Trad. The bell kinda sucks but overall it has a nice shimmer & controlable wash. Crashing on it is cool too but it's not what I would call a rock type ride. Hard to describe the china but kinda dark & trashy. Medium volume.

Love both the stick definition and bell on my 20" Signature Dry Heavy. One of the best all-time rock cymbals (but it sure ain't no crash!).

The bell on my 20" Sig. Power Ride is pretty brutal but I'm ashamed to admit (not really) that since I got my 21" HHX Sabian Groove Ride I haven't used the Paiste at all....

Im a Paiste nut!!. Im using all signature stuff with the exception of my 22''2002 ride which i like ALOT but the bell sound does indeed sound to um? softish?-dull?-muted almost. I love the bell sound of a 22''zildjian rock ride or the 21 sweet ride. As much as i love Paiste cymbals the customer service people suck!!!, or i should say at least one chick there is the rudest ******* ive ever had the pleasure of arguing with. I feel better now.

In addition to my 20" Signature Dry Heavy (which is definitely built for loud music), I recently picked-up a 21" Signature prototype (Silver Mellow?), which has a GREAT bell, GREAT stick definition and a beautiful shimmering (but not overpowering) wash. Unlike the Dry Heavy, this prototype ride can handle all volume levels EXCEPT blow-your-head-off rock. Paiste cymbals have a beautiful and unique sound. The Signatures, in particular, have a brightness and shimmering wash quality that just knocks me out!

BUT I LOVE ALL CYMBALS! I'M A CYMBALHOLIC!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!
