saw AFI this past Friday and it was awesome. the crowd was a bit.. "eh" but the band was great. both openers were playing custom, the coolest of which was a black satin kit with lime green PC. his snare was AWESOME. looked to be 13 x 7 from what i could tell. green spakle wrap. black PC. had a HUGE crack. Adam from afi was playing a black satin DW, nothing new.

they played a few unfortunate songs ( "miss murder", "girls not grey") but the majority of their set was from art of drowning. my favorite songs from the night were despair factor and days of the phoenix. awesome show, awesome band.

it was a "secret" show for despair faction members only. coincidentally, im not a DF member, but one of my friends who is a DF member gave me the code to purchase tickets. im pretty sure the show was posted up on the AFI site and it was searchable on ticketmaster.com
it did sell out within 2 hours though. it was at the henry fonda theater in hollywood. tiny tiny venue for a huge band like AFI. that made it more awesome. great show fasho.

i've seen AFI twice. great live band. one time i saw them they had to continualy stop their set for people passing out and being crushed against the guard rail. i respect davey for doing that.

another time i saw them they had the blood brothers opening for them. this was years ago and before the piano island record. they were boo'd off the stage. it was sad.

i was at the Blood bro's show. they played pretty poorly. i love their records but havent gone to see them live sence that show because of a bad impression.
