saw them last night with From first to Last, The All-American Rejects, and some other band whos name wasn't worth remembering. Ok, before I go on, I escorted a friend of mine to see show. She loves Hawthorne Heights and this was her first show, and first time into L.A.

Anyway, From First to Last, who I'm a fan of, put on a lousy and very loud set. They were very rushed and sometimes even off count. All the instruments, especially the drums drowned eachother out and totally killed the singer. Maybe it was because we were in an arena but it was horrible. I will give em another chance at Warped Tour for sure.

The last time I saw Hawthorne Heights, they were nothing short of horrible. I must say, they must've done some practicing because they put on a pretty damn good show! I was shocked, I even jumped into the emo pit with all the teenie boppers running into eachother, which was quite fun being the only dude in there taller then 5 foot. And to top it off, that SJC kit he drummer was playing sounded amazing!! That snare has a crack to die for..

I skipped the All-American Rejects to stand in line for a beer and a shirt which seemed like what everyone else was doing...

Now to Fall Out Boy...from what I could hear of them over the screaming girls was crap... I don't think I need to say anymore.

FFTL is pretty cool...heard some of their new album and it's a step up from the last one. They're pretty hyper. Bad live? Eh, par for the course for this genre.

Hawthorne Heights was really bad when I saw them live. I loved both their albums (listening to the new one now), but man they are uninspiring. If you say they got better, that's a step in the right direction.

All-American Rejects are okay...they've got a couple good songs. Wouldn't go out of my way to hear them, but they're not terrible.

Fall Out Boy IS terrible live. Their albums (especially the new one) kick ass up and down the block, regardless of all the bull**** postering that everybody feels the need to spout whenever they hear the name. Immediately, you mention the band, and "emo emo emo blah blah blah"...well, they aren't emo. They're not punk. They're just a fun band with good songs and a great singer who gets too scared live and can't pull it off. Read a Rolling Stone interview...he is one reluctant son of a *****. Matter of fact, I think that he doesn't sing live very often because of his stage fright and disdain for popularity. Nearly OD'd on anxiety and anti-depressant meds a couple years ago. Anyways, they were good on SNL, but bad when I saw them.

A great quote from the dude from FOB: "There are bands you say you like to sound smart; there are bands you say you like to get laid. Then there are the bands that you actually listen to." Fitting, especially from him.

i'm pretty sure it was the bass player in Fall out Boy who OD'd. 75% percent sure of it. but i do agree their record is great but they can't pull it off live. one thing i give them credit for is their stage presence and energy. the only downside is it takes away from them being able to execute the songs. also they played a "suprise" show at a 300 capacity venue here in orange county a few nights ago. The Hush Sound, who i guess is on the same tour was headlining a show at Chain Reaction on one of the off nights and un-announced, fall out boy played and closed out the night. respectble to say the least.

anyone see them on Leno? the drum mics were cutting in and out. it was terrible.

Actually, I can't say that they (FOB) are my thing musically (I am in my forties, after all) , but I will say that, for a large Arena with a very big open floor (capacity on the floor alone is over 7000) they sounded pretty passable to me. The lead singer may have stage fright, but he does PROJECT, that is for sure.

From a production perspective, also a very easy concert to work. No crowd issues, as they were very well behaved. The bands were as well. When you figure that there were 5 bands performing in all, and the whole thing only ran about 20 minutes late, then you know you are working with some very cooperative people.

WOW! well, that sucks! could've shared my all american rejects beer with ya! As far as the crowd being cooperative, you are totally correct, because most of the kids parents were there with em... I've never seen so many moms and dads! was kinda cool, especially seeing the littlens, like 4 years old, tearin it up! the future of music...

yeah ya know, I'm no fan of the new album, but I still like.....one thing was for sure, lots of energy! and that singer would not sit stll for a second! I kinda laughed when they did the mic check because the dude doing the check had to bend down like a foot to test the lead mic... Sonny is a short kid...

I certainly appreciate the sentiment, but I probably could not pull that off while working.
