PRESS RELEASE - February 20, 2006
Perhaps once in a lifetime, a percussionist/educator comes along whose powerful and dynamic concert venue makes a mark on thousands of kid’s lives forever! Rob Gottfried, ROB THE DRUMMER and his Pro-Arts, Pro-Sports, Anti-Substance Abuse, self-esteem Concerts will once again be on location in Michigan for his 60-Show, 2006 MICHIGAN TOUR . . . Detroit, Ann Arbor, Traverse City, Fraser, and Battle Creek . . . commencing February 28 through April 8, 2006.
Better known to thousands of students as “ROB THE DRUMMER,” Robert L. Gottfried is a nationally recognized Children’s Communications Character who has appeared on Sesame Street, FOX 61, Entertainment Tonight, MTV, The ******odeon Network, Romper Room, Kids World, P.M. Magazine and many other National and cable television programs. ROB has 4 times performed at the White House for 35,000 children…and 2 Presidents!…and has performed and toured Worldwide in Russia, Belgium, and Japan, etc. Rob’s stage name was echoed by BIG BIRD on a guest appearance on Sesame Street - “Hey Kids! Here comes ROB THE DRUMMER!”…. and the “Beat Goes On 25 Years Later To This Day!”
.
Robert Gottfried, ROB THE DRUMMER, gifted orator and percussionist extraordinaire, has created a concert so unique and powerful through a non-verbal connection being made initially through the drums and percussion…..followed by a “trust factor” between ROB and his audience . . . it grabs the attention of the listener where others have failed- it’s PRIMAL! PBS Television, through their affiliate CPTV in Hartford, CT, acclaimed Rob’s 25 years of dedication, work, and talent worthy of a LIFE DOCUMENTARY in 2002. Within the past seven years, Rob’s MICHIGAN TOURS sponsored by PFIZER, The Esperance Family Foundation, and The Edgemere Foundation, have captivated audiences of over 40,000 kids, administrators and parents. A specialty 2-Show appearance at the MAXEY & Adrian Training Centers "maximum security under-21 Prisons"- the hardest young criminals to reach emotionally - is the most unique performance appearance. Executive Director, Dr. Lee Grant states of Rob Gottfrieds’s talent, "NO ONE can get this kind of reaction out of this population!"Rob is the only performer with a message that gets through....and elicits a very real response to this population." Here are some testimonial from kids who are murderers and rapists, sexual predators and drug dealers….turned off to ANYONE telling them what to do….in the classic sense… but have connected to his visits at the Training Center over the past four years . . .
“He helped me blow off my anger and understand how to control it.”
“He taught us to express ourselves freely, to practice and to do something that helps us “live” in the moment and to love what we have. He made me think about the rest of my life.”
“He caused me to think about life and our freedom is valuable to us and we need to stop sitting and doing nothing all day.”
“He got me to think about how much of an important role I take in the community - and that’s also what motivates me to get out of here.”
“I feel someone famous like him is able to inspire a lot of people like me.”
“On a scale of 1-10, I would give Rob a 12 because he could communicate with different cultures.”
“He tells us what it means to strive for what we are interested in and never give up and continue to always practice and push . So basically, push for a future that is in the process of achieving . . .”
“I recommend Rob to other schools because he will inspire kids to spend their time and energy into something positive.”
“I like all the insight he has and he could maybe help other people at other schools.”
“Yes I recommend him… and the schools should get MORE involved.”
“He said to have something successful planned for yourself and to have value for yourself.”
“I think he should go to all the schools so he could help all the kids.”
“He is good for people who are struggling.”
After Rob’s return from the MICHIGAN TOUR, he will accompany the renowned Hall High School Jazz Band, winner of numerous Downbeat, Lincoln Center, and Berklee College Awards for the finest High School Jazz Band in the Country… along with Singers and Dancers of West Hartford, CT, under the Directorship of Haig Shahverdian and John Mastroianni, as Guest Artist and Chaperone on their time-honoured and prestigious EUROPEAN Tour. This is a momentous return to Europe, as they have not done so since the 2001 disaster here in this Country…over obvious security concerns.
Yes, the “Beat Goes On” with Rob Gottfried’s “Be The BEST You Can Be” Concert Venue! His ultimate dream is to continue to be an International Ambassador for Children!
