before you read this ill just let you know i didnt search to see f this has been done allready.

ive been thinking about building an e-drum set for a while but never got around to it. but today i was looking at an old snare i had and i have what i think is a good idea, the snare i have is one with an internal muffler that you can move up and down and im wondering if i can throw a piezo on the thing and use it as an e-snare, will this work? and also what is a good brain/module for a real basic set up, the only thing i really care about is being able to open and close the hi hats. if this works im thinking about using those internal mufflers to do a whole set with, any info will be appreciated, dave

As far as a basic module, I think most people vouch for the DM5. I went a little higher end (DMPro) because I wanted its features.

As far as that edrum set up for a snare, it would be possible to make it work, but bear in mind that you will need a foam cone or some other such protective material on the dampener above the piezo (between piezo and drum head) to protect the piezo.

Could be made to work otherwise, though. Another challenge you might face is that the dampener is always well off center, so the piezo would be off center as well. This could reduce your "Live area".

im just looking for something real basic, just too practice on at home or at night so the dampener/trigger would be ok i think, ive seen other triggers you can clip onto your hoop so i think it would work. as for the dm5 thats pretty much what i thought just thought id check to make sure, thanks for the help
