Ok, so I just finished a prototype for a Roland-style undermounted cone trigger. The pics you see is the trigger bracket and the mono phone jack it's soldered to. I have since bought and adhered a Roland trigger cone to the piezo.
My question is... I have yet to buy a brain. Is there a way to test the connections to see if the trigger sends a signal to the phone jack without a brain? I tried a digital volt meter but didn't get anything...
?

ok, i think i may have figured it out. i put my millilvolt meter on DC V 2000m and got a reading when tapping the trigger. anyone wish to verify this is real or unreal voltage?
sorry for the bother post.

I've not done it, but it sounds like it is working.....

One quick way to check a trigger is to plug it into a guitar amp, keyboard amp, etc. and just listen to the response. You can actually get a fairly good idea of how well it will trigger by listening to the pulse output at all dynamic levels.

take it to a music store and plug her in, that way you can show your new drum.

After taking a look at your pix, I would highly suggest that you use miniature shielded cable for your run from the trigger to the jack, or AT THE VERY LEAST, twisted-pair wire. Piezo triggers essentially look like an open load in a circuit, making the wiring susceptible to interference from outside sources, which can potential cause false triggering in some applications. Nice mechanical work though.
