Yesterday I was going trough old receipts of drumstuff I bought over the years and I remebered my china fiasco of 3 years ago. Somewhere around 2001 I bought a 16" K Zildjian china, sounded great, nothing seemed wrong but after a month or two it cracked along the groove right where the edge was 'folded' over.

I returned the china to the shop and they sent it back to exchange it for another one; a 14" sound effects china. Same story with that one. After that there followed 18", 20" models ranging from K to Avedis to A-Custom to Z-custom and all of them cracked at the exact same place in the exact same way.

After two years of juggeling china's I kinda forced the distributor to refund my money. I went and bought a 20" Paiste Signature china and that one has been holding out for two years now.

Anyone else that had that kind of experience with Zildjian China's? I just can't imagine it's just me.

I have cracked a wuhan about year ago, a 14...

But I have a 17K that has been holding up for 5 years. I really dont beat the S H I T out of my china, it speaks with the slightest touch...

The Wuhan was a different story... I just beat that thing to death.

I can't say I really bash my china's. I do use them as a ride alot but I hit them the same way I would hit a crash.
Maybe Zildjian china's just hate me.

I do a fair amount of perusing the Pearl Forum too, and it seems to me, just from casual observation, that Zildjian cymbals enjoy a higher degree of cracking and breaking among heavier hitters than the other brands. Then again, this could be due to the fact that there are probably as many Zildjians sold as most of the other brands combined, so it would make sense that we hear about more Zils breaking because there are simply more of them out there.

Thoughts?
