So, now it looks like the brass side up on the piezos might be the way to go after all, though I am not totally convinced. In the meantime, I have noticed that the rubber washers that I glued to the platforms with contact cement, as well as the piezos that I glued on top of the washers, hardly have a grip on their respective parts, so I am wondering if contact cement is not the best way to go as far as gluing these parts.

Any suggestions?

Silicone all the way mate.as long as your surfaces are free from dirt and grease you'll get a really strong bond.

Thanks for the response.

Then silicone it is. Hopefully, the fact that I will be painting the platforms won't interfere with the adhesive. I will be cautious in making sure everything is very dry before putting it back together.

I've used hot glue and it worked well. For the stongest bond, try gorilla glue. But be careful, this stuff is tremendously MESSY!
