View Full Version : Pulling Piezos from the Shell
So, now that I have my questions as to how to mount a module to the rack answered, and all the hardware for the edrums is ready to go, along with the installed jacks, I set about trying to "shell" the piezos, only to find that it seems damned near impossible. The underside comes off with little problem, but that still leaves you with a piezo encased in half a plastic shell, which still needs to come off. I still have not figured out how to do it.
Any suggestions?

Squeeze fan?
Nice catch!
Yeah, I am. Not to the extent of owning everything they put out, but I always did like their music. The association just popped into my head from previous posts on this subject.
The question is a real one nonethless.

Sorry. I have no answer to your question, but I'll be looking to see what others say. Edrums are like the 3rd project down on my list. And my list is moving veeeeeerrrrrry slowly.
Squeeze, also no albums, but catchy tunes I have to admit. I had a girlfriend in college who was into them. I think I might have seen them live, even.

I'm not sure about the US but in the Uk the "unshelled" ones are readily available to buy, so I'm sure you can get them.
Piezos are really fragile, until they're mounted, so i can understand the problems your having trying to release them from the shell....
Save yourself the hassle mate..

I totally ruined a Piezo buzzer today trying to get it out of the shell. When I got it open, it had a ciruit board and some other random wires, so I think I bought the wrong thing in the first place. Oh well...live and learn.
I was able to get 6 unshelled Piezos from eBay for $6 shipped though. Shazam...
