Can someone help?

Is it possible to use drum triggers (I have a set of Ddrum triggers) as cymbal triggers? Or should I be looking at getting proper dedicated cymbal triggers?

Aren't DDrum triggers the external kind that clip onto a surface? Unless I am wrong, they are the kind that clip onto hoops, aren't they?

If they are, I don't know how well they would work for a cymbal. If you look at most ecymbals, it seems like the piezo portion is pretty insulated in a housing located midway down the surface on a single zone cymbal and in the bell as well on double zone.

Also, it seems like they would slip off the cymbal itself pretty easily.

I might be wrong, though.

If there the kind that hook onto rims through a tension rod, you could probably slip it over the post on a normal cymbal stand and then tighten the wingnut on top of that (if that makes sense). Might not work but its a worth a try.

Thanks for the responses guys.

JLee, I was just gonna find a way to mount either as spindrummer mentions or underneath the cymbal. The cymbals I'll probably use will be plastic practice ones with rubber coverings so mounting for a DIY maestro like me (!!!) shouldn't be a problem.
Tom, thanks for the link I think that kinda answers it for me. As long as I can mount the triggers securely it should in theory work right?
